Can you recommend a good strop?

I made my own strops.

Thin veg-tanned leather from Hobby Lobby, denim, about 2 feet of maple from LowDepot, and various polishes, green compound, and diamond pastes.

I recently made some changes to my product offerings, instead of buying the total package, you can buy just the plate, the block with mounting shims, or the entire kit. The site is linked below in my signature line.

If you're using compound, many surfaces will work as well as or better than leather. I most often use paper, between one and three sheets depending on what effect I'm looking for, wrapped around one of my Washboard plates. On the go I've been known to apply compound, waterstone or oilstone mud etc to paper and wrap it around any hard stone. Use thinner paper for a more aggressive edge, thicker paper or more layers for a brighter finish.

For a super finale, horsehide strops with no compound are highly recommended by straight razor users.
