Can you reduce the weight of the G-10 Cara Cara by drilling?

My brother has the G-10 Cara Cara and he likes almost everything about it except that it is a little heavy. I was looking at it and I think most of the weight is in the dual SS liners. Since it is all screw construction, I was thinking it wouldn't be too hard to remove the scales and drill the liners in a bunch of places that won't effect the strength too much. Would that be possible? I have never taken the scales off one of these so I am not sure if they are held on by epoxy as well as the screws.

If it is just screws, I think you could reduce the weight by as much as half an oz. It doesn't sound like much but it would help a little. He wears thin dress slacks most of the time and doesn't want the knife to make the pants hang funny.

I know a lot of you will say just get a different knife but he is very picky and hard to please. If he likes it but it is too heavy, the best thing to do is fix the weight issue if possible. This would probably void the warrenty however which would be a trade off.

I want to bump this up because I want to know if the scales are glued or if they can be removed with just taking out the screws.

Kgriggs, let me know if you go along with this. I've considered doing it myself, but I don't have a drillpress. As Padawan said, the scales come off easily once you remove the screws. It should definately be possible. The only concern I'd have is I really like the weight balance of the knife as is and who knows how that would be affected by drilling the liners. It would make it a little more blade heavy I would think.
