Can you run a 1" belt on a 2x42 grinder?

I'm thinking there shouldn't be a reason why not but I figured I'd ask you guys. I've been doing some reading and seems that there are quite a few people who use the Delta 1x42 a lot for handle shaping and whatnot. I don't think it's made anymore (at least I can't seem to find it easily). So I was wondering, since I have a 2x42 is there any reason I can't slap a 1" belt on there and run it okay?

My first handle I'm going to do by hand, but I'm thinking for future knives it might be something to consider doing.

If you have the craftsman setup it says in the instructions you can use a 1x42.

If you have something else... try it? (always wear safety equipment, your own risk blah blah)
