Comparing the two knives shown, which do you think is the counterfeit 124? What country do you think the counterfeit 124 was shipped from?

Yes and No.

It is the one on the right, but not from China.

The short story...purchased from eBay for pocket change. They had stock photos of the knife from Buck's website listed. The user had zero feedback. All the telltale signs were there. The only part that threw me off was it stated it was being shipped from CA. Knowing eBays buyer protection policy I made the purchase fully expecting not to receive the real deal, but if I did get the real knife, what a bargain! It started out with the seller marking the knife shipped, but no tracking. After a week past the expected receive date, I notified eBay that I have not received the item. Immediately after opening the case the seller responds that they are out of stock in the CA location, and they will ship from another location. Sure enough I get a DHL notification that the item has shipped from...........Pakistan. Took a couple of weeks to get past customs and received it last night. Already started the refund process for a counterfeit item (I have had a counterfeit 192 in the past that was fully refunded). Good times and now I have a new paperweight.

I kinda like the thinner handle...its a bit overdone and too thin, but I wouldn't mind if Buck shaved the real one down a bit and the guard as well......

I'm weary of Indian and Pakistan unknown maker steels.....could be mystery meltdown of recycled fenders and various alloys and pot metal and even radioactive elements in it. dont need my hand to turn black and fall off from using it.

Pictures below. Very thin leather (if it is leather). Counterfeit 124 doesn't really fit well into the sheath. Almost have to push it thru the bottom of the sheath to get enough room to do the snaps.

I did a close up of one of the snaps and if I am reading it correctly it has '1907' 'GREAT SEAL OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA'. So, this must be an authentic knife.

what's Pakistans love for Oklahoma of all places? ya'd think Idaho if copying a Buck or even Cali....or if just trying for America in general....Texas..cause everything is bigger and better there, right?

heck last time i was in Texas in Dallas/Ft. Worth.......only reason i went into Oklahoma was for a night to hit a big Native American casino they have there across the state line. soon as I ran out of money I went back to Texas.

I don't know.
I remember somebody posting in a thread somewhere about the reason these snaps are used so much, but not the details.
