Can you suggest a knifemaker?

Ok,

I don't know if I am asking for things that cannot be found....

But, here we are.

I have a friend who wants to have a 'mountain man' style bowie made, and he is interested in a crown stag handle.

But, here is the tricky part, he will not pay over about $150.

So, I suggested that he maybe get the blade made by somebody, ditch the crown stag because it could be a bit too complex for an amateur to do.

Anyway, I thought I would post this here, and see what sort of response I get.

The type of bowie he seems to favour is a searles or such, he really likes that new Browning Competition Knife.

Cliff from Florida (can't remember his BF name) and Cochea out of Mississippi do the period style knives very well. $150 might be a bit low for anything with stag on it but you never know. I'm sure they'll chime in soon.
 
Thanks for the nod Will. I could certainly make whatever your friend would want but 150.00 for any kind of bowie is way under what I could possibly do it for, as my sheaths alone for a bowie sized knife start at that much.
The link to my website is at the bottom of all my posts. Click on it and take a look, or have your friend look. If he likes what I do then perhaps he could give me a call and we might work something out, but he can expect to pay more than 150.00 from anyone if he expects any kind of quality work.

Check for a PM I sent and tell your friend to give me a holler at that email address. Don't know about the price but you never know we might work something out. I am usually fairly easy too get along with, at least on my good days, (or so my wife says):D!

Marion, if you did not get my PM send me an email and I will let you and your friend look at some of my work. For some reason I got back about 4-5 emails I sent out last night as undeliverable! I don't know if it was my server or somebody elses!
