Can you tell I like the Manix 2? It's the Manix Wheel!

Well 2 more of mine just came in. This isn't a very good picture and I need to get outside with some good light but this will do for now. Thanks Sean for letting me contribute to your thread!

i see you got the green manix2 ;) thats a nice lookin wheel!

Yeah those were the 2 I just got in. I took a hit and bought them on that evil auction site for too much but it looked like the only way I was going to get them. I just added up what I have paid for all of them and . I'm disabled with next to no income, what in the world am I thinking? I guess they are basically all I spend my money on other than a few bills. Luckily my truck is paid off since some months I'm making a truck payment in knives. I think I suffer from the sickness! I might have to sell off a couple spares at some point.

I have only used one so far and that is one of the S90V ones. It is hard to tell which one but it has a mirror polish edge and a couple little scratches. Since I am a steel snob I don't know if I will use any of the others except I might have to try out that Carpenter steel to see how it is. I wonder if it or the S30V would hold the better edge?

Love to see the clip wear on knives.. you know they are users then. Thumbs up!

Awesome! Turn it the other way, and you've got Krull!

Sidenote: Manix Wheel makes me think of a Manwich Meal. Now I want sloppy joes.

Win! Your pic has much better symmetry than mine.

Don't you think the saber ground blades look kind of sad amongst the FFG ones? I vastly prefer the FFG blades to the regular ones on every Spyderco where I've tried both versions. I'm going to have to pick up one of the new colored Delicas to get a FFG blade.

Yeah I really like the FFG blades. I like cutters and don't really abuse my folders so a nice thin blade is what I want. I'm sure the saber grind is quite a bit stronger but I don't plan on stabbing and beating on stuff with it. The S90V one is working out so well I'm not sure I need to use any of the other ones so they might just get sold off eventually.

Well, if you ever need to unload one of those blue ones, I'd be happy to assist. :D

Great picture. I have the regular, CF, and FG Manix 2s. I missed the blue sprint. It's by far my favorite knife, great balance and ergonomics.

Again, great photo!

Great photos guys! They are pushing me over the edge to get a Manix 2. Now, the question is which one to get first.

Could someone post some thoughts to compare the regular production model, the FFG S30V, and the CTS-XHP models?

Thanks.

Are you looking for edge retention, strength, good slicing ability, or looks? The regular model is probably the strongest but to me doesn't look as good, won't hold an edge quite as long, and won't be as good of a slicer in materials like cardboard that has to be pushed apart.

The S30V and CTS steels will probably be pretty similar in edge retention. I think the blue looks better and probably won't show dirt as much as the green. But I'm also more inclined to use one of my Green ones over the blue just to try the steel out since it is new and there have been some impressive early reports on it.

Oddly, for me at least, the blue shows dirt more readily than the green. YMMV!

I haven't used either yet that was just a guess since it is darker. I love the S90V so much I just haven't felt the need to try another yet.

How is the carpenter steel's edge retention compared to the S30V? A noticeable difference?

Seriously, Spyderco should be endorsing your efforts. You appear to be the Lebron James of the Manix 2 world. Do you have other EDC's in your collection?

Chad

In my pockets at the moment are a G10 Delica and a green ZDP Delica, and there's a Sage 2 in the console of my car. There's a G10 Rookie clipped to the visor of my truck. I think my Emerson wave Delica is in the center console. There's a FRN Stretch in my 'going to town' jeans piled up on the bedroom floor.

So, yes, it's safe to say I have other Spyderco EDC's. Mind you, those are just the ones that aren't in the safe, the true users.

Full flat grind, but the saber grind is still a darned good knife. I was perfectly happy with the matched set of saber ground ones until I bought the S90 V and CF sprint model.

Ok, glad to know I made the right choice then... Just went for a CPS-XHP model in foliage green. Very excited about having a go with this beaut once it arrives.

The S90V and CF one, I think.
Well... after much discussion on the subject apparently the green sprint run in CPS-XHM takes a keener edge than the CF S90V version but doesn't hold for it quite as long. Not to say that it isn't an incredibly wear resistant alloy though!
