Can you tell which Sheath Maker to avoid ?

How about which sheath maker to use, particularly for a busse? Who's quick, reliable and does great work?
Regards,
Rich

There is only one sheath maker that I would avoid and that is Mike Sastre. He makes excellent Kydex sheaths, but it can take him well over a year and he asks for payment in advance.

My recommendation for Kydex sheaths would be Eric Noeldechen of On/Scene Tactical. He is a member of Bladeforums and goes by the user name Normark.

For leather I would recommend Chuck Burrows of Wild Rose Trading Co. I have had him make me a couple of sheaths and they are both outstanding. He is cheap, but his work is worth every penny. Chuck is also a member of this forum and his user name is Wild Rose.

Kenny Rowe is an excellent sheathmaker, the sheath that came with the Fitch Bowie I acquired from Gary Graley aka G2 is outstanding.Gary is an excellent sheathmaker himself, though I don't think he does too many fixed blade sheaths.Kathy Anders also makes excellent sheaths although I think she may just make them for her husband,Jerome.Dave Abramson aka Lifter is very good I've heard.I need a sheath for a Uwe Hoffman Ranger that came without one,so I'll be getting one made by someone soon, too.I may be all wrong about Kathy just making them for Jerome.

AVOID JERRY BUSSE FOR SHEATHS!
Not only do they make them out of cardboard, they are sometime counterfeit!
 :p

Hi Walking Man,

You are right, I bought a Busse and it came with a paper (not even cardboard) sheath. But when I held the knife, it more than made up for it.

Thanks everyone for your input, this is really a great forum to be in.

I have purchased sheaths from Lifter and from OnScene Tactical and was very happy with the quality from both.

A big  for Eric of Onscenetactical. He has a lot of knives in stock so you save the postage that way too, Not that he is expensive anyway.

Keith Montgomery has already provided input on the question you asked so I will leave information on sheath maker that did a GOOD job for me:

I was very happy with the work done by Mike Bartol - he made a beautiful leather sheath for me and accommodated all my special requests.

You should have sent it back. Send it to me, and I'll make you a cardboard sheath worthy of the finest Hogs, for my standard fee, of course. :)
Now, do you do want duct tape or super glue to hold the tek-lock on?

On-Scene or Okuden (username here OKU) - both took the time to really understand what i wanted and both categorically undestood the sheath is not just a storage device hanging from a belt.

I'd like to put in a good word for 3 that I've used - Tom Krein, Dwayne Puckett, and Okuden (forgot his real name, sorry). All make exceptional products and were great to deal with.

Permit me a comment on Okuden, so you will know the kind of person you would deal with.

I have a daughter who was a hit and run victim in 2002 at age 21. She was comatose and then in a vegetative state, but has made a remarkable recovery, although she cannot walk or talk. At Blade 2004, Jerry Busse presented her with a specially labeled Steel Heart E. After I told about this on bladeforums, we received a package from Okuden, who we had at that time never met or had any dealings with, giving her a Kydex sheath for her Steel Heart. It was an excellent sheath, also.

My heart goes out to you. I sincerely hope your daughter continues to improve.
Happy holidays,
Rich
