Can you use a BRKT Strop kit on a Scandi Blade?

Actually the strop alone is $17 delivered...the whole kit with the compound is the $39.95.

I have had excellent luck with wood backed leather, though I am certain there are many different experiences out there. :)

If I am using wood I usually have one side leather and one with a strip of mousepad glued to it.

I don't recommend it for much more than an initial once in a while setting of the edge on a Scandi.

The Scandi grind is not that hard to sharpen. In fact in many respects its one of the easiest to maintain. For one the bevel is the primary grind and due to this fact the blade has its own built in 'guide' to allow you sit it right on the stone you use. I've had no problem touching up my Scandi grinds by using the Spyderco Sharpmaker. Simply remove both rods from the stand. Set one aside because you only need one. You then lay that hone down into the stand where they were when it was shipped. This way the sharpmaker hone you choose is sitting flat like a bench stone. Now simply place the scandi grind blade on it, let it guide you so you are sitting it flat on the bevel and simply run it down the hone just like you would for any other blade with a conventional bevel on with the scandi grind the bevel is the entire ground down part we call the primary grind since its taken to a zero degree edge. In other words its still sharpening the bevel only on the scandi the bevel is just bigger and the blade sits flatter on the stone or hone you use.

I prefer the Razor Edge Dry hones for these type grinds when using a bench stone. Then you can follow that up with the med and then fine sharpmaker rods.

These are the ways I do it. The idea is to keep that zero degree edge. You can just as easily do this with a diamond or an Arkansas stone or some flat rock found in the field. I've read reports of guys disposing of Mora blades to just buy a new one because they can't figure out how to sharpen them. Heck man, just send me those and I'll 'dispose of them for you.' :D

Just get a Fallkniven DC-4 sharpener - it has a diamond and a ceramic side and is a great little tool. You can sharpen your scandi with no problems. It has a nice leather sheah too. :)
