Oh yes, she can and does use the Spyderco Nakiri somewhat often, since it's very apparent that it's by far the best kitchen knife we have, although she quite often also uses the knives she brought into our marriage herself (a five knife set by Berndorf at the astonishing cost of 40€, X50CrMoV steel, thick as hell behind the edge).

As for the pocket knives, she sometimes asks to grab the one in my pocket to cut something, that's really rare though. She also knows where all the fixies and folders are, but never reaches into that closet ... She just doesn't care about knives that much :)

If she wants to…no problems here.

She is pretty particular herself, so she generally uses her own. Like Madcap M, my wife’s knives see more use than mine!

She carries AND uses the Mnandi in her purse, a Byrd Harpy in the garden, a CPK HDFK and TFK when camping.

She just retired her BM Sequel after many years. She likes purposeful knives and has all she wants at the moment (so she says).

So while she can use my(our) knives if she so pleases…she sticks with her good stuff. Ha!

We have two categories of kitchen knives. "Our knives" and "My knives". Generally she is content with "our" knives, the ones I maintain, but don't baby as much and are not as expensive. All stainless steel, Cutco and Zhen mostly. She has taken a liking to a modified Misono 180 santoku that I ground into a funayuki profile and thinned by hand to a laser grind. Great knife, good size for here, but many times I come home to find it still on the cutting board hours later with vegetable residue dried on. Luckily I got it cheap and rusty and did a restoration on it, and the patina is developed which protects the blade. She still gets a comment from me for leaving it out and not washing/drying it properly.

Bottom knife. these two were both carbon steel resto-mods I did a few years ago with un-stabilized Koa wood I brought back from a vacation in Hawaii. Both get regular use.
