First of all, yes, I've done a search but didn't come up with an answer to my question.....

I recently bought a LSCF scale from a fellow BF member and was wondering, would a parcel like that have to go through customs? It's just a knife scale, so it could easily fit in an envelope from what I figure and I was thinking it would only take about a week or so, but I suppose it's going to be a while longer. Opinions? Personal experience with their air mail for something other than knives?

TIA :D

I have lived in Canada for 65 years so have considerable experience with Canada Post.
If you mail anything in Canada, including a domestic address, the cost runs 3-4 times that of USPS. Regardless of whether you pay for the regular service or one of the "faster" ones, any parcel and most letters will take at least one week to arrive if the destination is less than about 200-300 miles away. If it's going further, say half way across the country add another 1-2 weeks. A good rule of thumb is that delivery time is about how long it would take the average person to travel the distance on a bicycle. The only exception is for short distances in which the bicycle will arrive a few days ahead of the parcel.
However we do not complain because there is no mechanism to correspond with Canada Post so a complaint or even inquiry is not possible. Infact we are grateful if the parcel arrives (whether damaged or not) as their lost rate is rather high.
For those of us who live close to the USA border, the fastest way to send a parcel to a Canadian address is to drive down to the nearest town or village in the USA and send it USPS. For some unknowable reason Canada Post moves a parcel that has come into Canada from the USA faster than one mailed from within Canada.

Thanks for the info, Roland. Just got my new scale today so, in my case, delivery via airmail from Canada to south Texas took a little less than two weeks....not bad at all compared to other experiences that I've read about. :D
