Took the my new cold steel Canadian Belt knife out for a spin today, very impressed with its performance! best knife i have ever bought for $13

Figure four trap (not really meant to catch anything, just kinda set it up for the fun of it)

I love mine. Waitin for huntin season to come around to test its skinnin abilities. All in all i think its a great knife.

The cheap handle and sheath bother me - Opinel/rough rider/Sanrenmu cost less, and look at their materials.

Got to admit, I bought one to try out the shape of the blade, turned out to be much more of a knife than I expected.

I have one that stays in the kitchen, It has done a fine job and I would not hesitate to take it to the woods. In fact, I put it on kitchen duty so it would get everyday usage. . It has stayed sharp with general kitchen cutting duties It does have a small stain on the blade. Not sure from what.

Given the price I don't think the sheath is that bad. Overall, I think it is a very good value for the price.

The figure-four is great! The bait is the knife! I never thought of that!

A guy comes up to grab your Canadian. The trap is sprung. His hand is smashed under the burl. You have the thief "red-handed"! Ingenious!

Very nice, Cedric.

away back "when" there was a company- "Herter's" - from Minnesota that marketed that Canadian design -I think made in Germany for about $3.00 with leather sheath. I must have had a half dozen of them and like a dummy gave them all away thinking I could "always get another" - then Herter's "went south"! It is a very useful design.
Peace
Revvie

The old Herters knife company is now being made by a company called R. Murphy. Bens Backwoods used to sell two of their knives, one of them being a Canadian Belt knife. I own one and it is very possibly the best Grohmann copy I have seen. R. Murphy knives are sold by the company and also at elliptical knives.com.

Far out, didn't know that, thanks for info.
And here it is, they call it simply The Skinner:

Btw, the "Herter's" name was bought from family by the outfit that sells mostly repackaged Russian ammo through Cabelas.
