Canadian fixed blade laws?? They took a highlander's sock knife, in QC, wth?

http://montrealgazette.com/news/loc...-contest-ticket-for-carrying-ceremonial-knife

a sgian-dubh should not be illegal, even to carry, isn't the Canadian federal law only prohibit fixed blades longer than 12"? or something reasonable... I don't recall atm

Since when is this illegal in Canada? Wth?
Can anyone shed more light on this

This is a Montreal city bylaw and it's been discussed a few times here.

Walking around with a visible knife there (or a pocket clip in Calgary) gets you the bad kind of attention.

sigh, bylaws should be outlawed

thanks for answering, I figured it might be something silly like that

This was a two year old story (okay, a year and a half)...if the subject is being raised here, now, why not at least give an update on the outcome?
D dirc you dragged it up, find out what happened & report back.
