Does anyone know of any knife photographers in Canada? It would be nice to avoid the back and forth across the border and to help save on shipping.

This could be a great thread. Years ago, yes, but not now. I hope someone comes in and -----

Here are some photo from a local guy, he is just starting out photoing knives. I think he did well. Rob Garbaty is his name and you should be able to look him up on the net.

you could try Dave of Crossed Heart Forge on Vancouver Island, he might know

Thanks for the lead James. I wasn't able to find him online though. Do you know if Rob keeps a website or if he does social media?

I've been trying to talk my brother into doing this. He's an avid amateur photographer but is pretty busy as a petroleum engineer. I'll talk to him this weekend about this again.

There is Murray White.

But

I don't care for his work.

For Example

He puts a watermark of his own name on every photo, not the makers info.
The makers marks on the knife are seldom if ever visible.

I'd also rather see a lighter background.

Compare that to what Coop does

I can see the links.

Thanks for the reply count. I can't find Murray's website though. Maybe my Google skills are lacking

Murray White does not take on photography work for pay. He will photograph knives as a favour at times, but mostly records his own collection.
If you want to promote your work, and have it look its best, using photographers like Coop and a few others is the only way to go. Failing that, take the time to learn the process yourself. It can be done on a very modest budget if you are willing to invest some time in research. Most of my work is photographed by professionals, but at times that is impossible. I then have to record my work with my meagre setup. The results are less than second best, but work in a pinch. Check this out, it was a lot of help in setting up http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/328550-No-Frills-75-00-home-studio-tent-lightbox . Some examples of cheap home photography:
