Canadian supply sources

I'm a new knife maker located in southern Ontario and have been researching thoroughly for Canadian sources for supplies. I've spoken with Mike Mossington and recently made some purchases from him and also looked into Canadian Knifemaker Supply Ltd but neither carry some if the steels I'm interested in, so here I am. Has anybody been able to purchase M390 or CPM20CV from a Canadian source? Also looking for good stabilizing products and other handle materials. Any help is greatly appreciated! Cheers

no luck with M390 for me in Canada either. if you only need one piece let me know, I have a couple 11" pieces I got a while back from usa knifemaker I believe.

Especially with the small quantities, you won't be buying from the manufacturers, or their dealers.

That only leaves "knife supply retailers"

Some like Aldo go right to the source and get things made specifically for them.

Some buy from the same sources you could and just break it down and mark it up.

As a Canadian, there is damn little you can get here at reasonable prices.

Find USA sources and buy enough to spread the extra shipping costs out.

Have things shipped USPS United States Postal Service, NOT Fedex, or UPS

Alpha supply is great for small pieces at small prices.

That would be amazing! I'll send you an email. I contacted Bohler directly and one of their Steel Store reps contacted me and said he would get back to me. That was well over a week ago now though. I contacted Aldo recently aswell, I'm looking at using him as an American source but would like to keep things north of the border. If it comes down to it though I'll have to bite the bullet on the shipping I guess. Alpha was one of the others I looked into as well.

If you investigate the which are quantities M390 delivered in the world for this and past year, then Now available dimensions sheet ... will be a lot clearer why this is so and how difficult
reach the desired even in the EU.:grumpy:

The count said it perfectly. We have much higher expenses especially with more exotic materials.

When you find a deal on something, stock up.

Right...but..Bohler is so different in each regional center and there is a precedent that I recently learned .... Slovak Bohler has a list of steel in small quantities just for our needs ... So it is possible they should be a little bothered queries and suggestions.

I find my Canadian clients tend to be the "stock up" kind of guys when they buy woods from me. Especially when it comes to the exotic woods.

assuming that was for me, you can email me at onlyroyce@hotmail.com. I'm in Ontario as well and have no trouble dropping a piece in the mail to play with.
