Well I'm pretty brand spanking new when it comes to slip joints and traditional folders.
I finally have my first slip joint on the way. I did a lot of reading on this subforum and
literally hours browsing through some online stores learning about all the various brands and
knife shapes. I went back and forth on what to choose.

After much consideration and thought I decided to go with a Canal Street Cutlery Cannitler
in White Buffalo Horn. I read some great reviews on Canal Street knives and they seemed like
a great small company putting out quality knives. I especially like that they use D2 steel and
the White Buffalo Horn looks really classy.

I will definitley post some pics up when I recieve it but wanted to see some of your guy's
Canal Street knives to tide me over until it arrives. Especially if anyone has some up close shots
of the Buffalo Horn. What are your thought on the Cannitler/Canoe?

Glad to be here :)

Nice choice!
The horn looks superb, and I love the swedge on the main blade, very classy.
I bet you wish you could go to sleep and wake up when it arrives :)

Sure do! Maybe Ill just fall asleep for the next 48 hours :)
Also I just realized I have to decide if Im gonna use this one or keep it
as collectible..... Man, the hard choices I have to deal with :p

Please post pics once you get it... My finger hovered over the buy button many times on that one. I only have 1 cannitler at the moment in external ram's horn. I almost never carried it because it was so nice but I carried it as my only knife during the June challenge. The below pics are of it at the end of June just as I pulled it out of my pocket, no cleaning or anything. The f&f was very good, each blade came razor sharp. Be careful opening up the blades when you get it, I shaved a bit of skin off my thumb knuckle as I was distracted. The main blade is large enough for many jobs. It uses both backsprings but is ground to less than single spring thickness. Each of the secondary blades is very thin and just slices through anything you use them on. I find it to feel really good in hand as well.

The Cannitler was chosen for the 2007 BFC forum Knife.

Sorry I don't have pics yet, but I bought one of the white buffalo horn cannitlers as well a few months ago. It's my favorite knife, and that's saying something. In my humble opinion, it's a very versatile knife. Strong main blade with two very useful thinner secondary blades. My Father-in-Law told me that the only problem with it was that it was almost too pretty to use. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine.

Beautiful folder. Got the hint of a nice patina on the big blade. D2 steel is one of my
favs but you rarely see them without some sort of coating on the more up to date
"tactical folders."

I have been looking at that same pattern for a while now. I would love here what you think of it.

A Cannitler is likely to be my next new knife purchase. Would like to have one with the American Chestnut, as the wood is from my home state.

Well my first slipjoint arrived today and I am more than happy with it. It really is a beauty. I can't find one flaw in the fit n finish. Bolsters and blade have a great
polish and I really like the swedge on the main blade. Came hair shaving sharp on all 3 blades. I can get a full four finger grip on the handle and with the two small blades
closed it serves almost like a finger choil when the main blade is out. And did I say how much I love the buffalo horn. Really classy looking and really my style.
All n all I think I did a good job on my first slipjoint purchase and this is probably the start of my new love affair. Highly recommend Canal Street Cutlery :)

Pics added on top of thread.

Thanks snowreaper1. I really like yours as well, that buffalo is beautiful!!

All the Canal Street knives I've seen or handled seemed to have very respectable F and F I'm realy quite fond of the Canoe pattern and today am carrying a CV Case Canoe amber bone I realy have fallen in love with this pattern and the profile of the main blade while not super pointy is great for 90% of EDC task and the wide blade definitly adds to it's usefullness.

Those are all very nice guys; great pattern too! Has anyone tried any of the new Cannal Street made Ka-bar slip joints?

Wow! Beautiful knife! A. G. Russell just started carrying a limited Pearl-handled one. A bit pricey, but with that design, it is begging me to break out the credit card.

I love how the main blade comes to almost full thickness at the spine, and uses both backsprings.

I also have one in ram's horn, I guess the same as 2Dead's, although mine has a serial number and it appears that his does not. Maybe a different issue run.

I bought a CS Cannitler with White Buffalo Mica Pearl scales for my best friend last year. He is an old time knife and tool lover, and I was sure when I saw the knife I had made the right choice. Now I want one! The quality and solidity of the knife really impressed me. I'm confident he will have it to pass on to his grandson years from now.
