 U.P.S. came tonight at 6:20 p.m. while we were eating dinner.
He said I was the last delivery of the day. It was pitch black here in Wisconsin when he arrived. I urged him to go home and eat as well.
The box left behind had my name on it and I knew just what it was.
My new 8" Canal Street Drop Point Hunter with my initials engraved on it.
It is an anniversary present from my beloved bride of 27 years. Now this is the first blade I own that has any initials on it. I toyed with ordering a Buck 110 with something scribbled on it for a extra $7.00 but the 4-6 week wait was always a mouse stopper when I came to click it. Impatient man.
I ordered this blade on Sunday night at around bedtime.
Joe Huffnagle sent me an e-mail Monday evening saying thanks for the purchase and my blade was on its way!
http://www.canalstreetcutlery.com/ The knife is the one up on the home page.
Shaves...no, scares the hair off my forearms. Push cuts paper like margarine.
The blade has a "cutting edge" of 3" making it legal for me to openly display it daily on my right hip. Gift boxed and meticulously wrapped it was like opening a Christmas present from a loved one. The Amber Jigged Bone is perfect. The finish on the D-2 tool steel blade has a mirror finish on the engraved side and a satin finish on the reverse side. The sheath is thick and stained well. The blade rides high but snug in the holster giving the impression of a larger blade underneath. Loveless style handle makes it look great! The engraving and my initials are perfect. I have bought quite a few Canal Streets lately. They are like a custom blade but at flea market prices. Very Impressive.
I hope this big little company sticks, they do great work. Made in America.
Peace.
