 U.P.S. came tonight at 6:20 p.m. while we were eating dinner.
He said I was the last delivery of the day. It was pitch black here in Wisconsin when he arrived. I urged him to go home and eat as well.
The box left behind had my name on it and I knew just what it was.
My new 8" Canal Street Drop Point Hunter with my initials engraved on it.
It is an anniversary present from my beloved bride of 27 years. Now this is the first blade I own that has any initials on it. I toyed with ordering a Buck 110 with something scribbled on it for a extra $7.00 but the 4-6 week wait was always a mouse stopper when I came to click it. Impatient man.
I ordered this blade on Sunday night at around bedtime.
Joe Huffnagle sent me an e-mail Monday evening saying thanks for the purchase and my blade was on its way!

http://www.canalstreetcutlery.com/ The knife is the one up on the home page.

Shaves...no, scares the hair off my forearms. Push cuts paper like margarine.
The blade has a "cutting edge" of 3" making it legal for me to openly display it daily on my right hip. Gift boxed and meticulously wrapped it was like opening a Christmas present from a loved one. The Amber Jigged Bone is perfect. The finish on the D-2 tool steel blade has a mirror finish on the engraved side and a satin finish on the reverse side. The sheath is thick and stained well. The blade rides high but snug in the holster giving the impression of a larger blade underneath. Loveless style handle makes it look great! The engraving and my initials are perfect. I have bought quite a few Canal Streets lately. They are like a custom blade but at flea market prices. Very Impressive.
I hope this big little company sticks, they do great work. Made in America.:D

Peace.

Congrats on a great knife! I've been buying some Canal Street lately, too. Well worth the dough. Best prices I've found is at www.soonerstateknives.com . I'd like to have the one you just got, so I'll probably have to order it direct to get it monogrammed. I'm getting due for a new knife ....:D

Man, I know how you feel. UPS can bug me at dinner ANYTIME. If I'm expecting a knife, I'll come out of the shower naked for UPS :D

Made in USA. You gotta love it.... and you need to respect it.

I know what you mean Ronsec,I know I could have saved a few bucks on the blade, but the ONLY one who is doing the FREE ENGRAVING is Canal Street themselves. So I agreed with my wife. Spend the dough, get the knife and enjoy it. It's a beauty too. Well worth the buck and a quarter!!!

Peace.

Congratulations, IMO a great choice.
And really a very fair price for what you're getting.

I have 3 Canal Street slippies and that fixed blade has
been in myh sights for a while, now.

Enjoy

I just received my first Canal Street knife, which was the little ring opener sleeveboard with Sambar Stag and A2 Steel that a group of us on the Traditional forums ordered as an SFO. I had been wondering whether all the buzz about CS was justified, and I have to say I was blown away at the craftmanship of this knife. Everything about it just screams quality. It definitely made a believer out of me. Needless to say, this won't be my last Canal Street.

Congrats on the D2 drop point hunter! I've been drooling over that one ever since it came out.

Great looking blade David   Congrats and Enjoy!!

Thanks Andy!
I always love getting a new blade.Sometimes there is a thrill just opening it!
Canal Street use red bubble pack, fresh stuff. Not the used bits and pieces or newsprint scraps. They wrap EACH piece individually.
So the sheath was a gift as well as the box, then finally when opened and unwrapped again the blade. First rate in even the little things that mean so much to the knifes first presentation to you. It creates a value in your mind just unwrapping it.
When you finally see what you get for your money from Canal Street it's nothing short of a custom handmade knife. Period.
Like one reply said "It screams quality" very true.
If you have been thinking about a treat for your hard work, I doubt if any blade from Canal Street would be a bad choice. For a hundred bucks ,give or take a few, you simply can't touch their quality anywhere.
This will NOT see the Chef's Choice Edge Select 120 for a long time!!:D

Peace.
