Canal Street Cutlery English Barlow Review

Excellent review, this is what we're all looking for in a write-up: good pictures, proper evaluation good and bad, thoughtful. Thank you.

Personally, I only like Barlows with a STAMPED bolster, don't care for engraved bolsters smacks of cost cutting. The GEC serial numbering system is preferable to CS's approach I feel, it is rather distracting. CS do very nice stainless blades, come sharp too. That Queen Barlow you show with the CS and GEC also looks very decent but Barlows should not have shields on the handles due to their oversize bolster - just my preference of course.

I'm kinda new to Traditional / Barlow collecting and am not familiar with "Pinch Back on the handles", a little help on this one would be appreciated.

Canal Street calls some (maybe all) of their lock back trappers "pinch backs"

Not Barlow related, but just to clarify, “Pinch” is the cutesy name for Canal Street's 3-3/4” lockback. In the same vein, its larger, 5” sibling is called the “Squeeze”. (http://www.canalstreetcutlery.com/locking-knives.html)
