The best EMT Ive ever worked with was diagnosed with cancer in his throat yesterday.
He is 51 and a father of 2, not really a knife guy but loves his old Mossberg and his Ruger no.1 in 375HH.
Was planning on moving to the US when he retires at 60 as hes been there alot and loves the outdoors, hunting as well as the American way of life.

Still under diagnostics but atleast looking at long period of chemo as well as radiation, unless they discover more and these are the actual spread

Its funny when you work with a partner and you develop that non-verbal way of communicating, just exchange looks and you know whats up and whats next.

I Miss you H

My 85 year old dad was diagnosed and successfully treated for throat cancer in 2014. The treatment sucked (I cannot emphasize this enough!), but was 100% successful and he is still alive and healthy. I wish you and your friend all the best. Cancer does suck, but the treatments that are available today can work wonders.

my grandfather had lung cancer, and I took care of him during that time. I agree, the treatment sucks! it zaps the life out of you, and everyone around who is helping you. i consider it a "family" disease, because no one deserves to go through something like that alone. I'm just blessed I was able to care for him the years before he passed away. my thoughts and prayers are with your friend and his family.

Sorry to hear that, I hope his treatment is successful and he is able to follow through with his plans.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that Knut.

I'm sorry to hear. Cancer is such an ugly disease. My prayers are with your friend and everyone close to him.

I was diagnosed with cancer 9 years ago and can attest to the above - the love and support of your friends and family is a major contributor to handling the situation. My best wishes to your friend and tell him to keep the faith even when it looks bleak. The light at the end of the tunnel can be you!

Sorry to hear this news Knut. Your sentiment about working relationships is very on point. That is one of my favorite things about life - when you have that connection w/ someone and the unspoken understanding of what the other is thinking/expecting.

Here's hoping he gets better fast and gets to live out his plans of moving here and enjoying the outdoors.

Thank you for your support guys.
Ill try to help him out as much as I can.
Thought Id pop by and get him a 12yr old Laphroaig and tell him to keep it for us to enjoy once he is well.
He is rugged guy so I think he can take most if the physical beating of the therapy ahead of him.
His morbid sense of humour as well as being a realistic will come in handy.

Can't help but reply again. Just finished off a 12 YO Laphroaig this weekend with my best friend of over 50 years. We've both had cancer. Gals worked on a bottle of wine and we brought out the good glasses for a great Scotch while we played dominos till the wee hours. Got tickled at my wifes choice of napkin, so snapped this pic:

Knutelut, sorry to hear of your friend and colleague. I have, over the years, stated that careers can come and go, but the relationships that you make along the way will last a lifetime. I know that this is true in my life. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend. Please let us know when he books passage to come to the U.S. We will all be here to greet him. The only game where I come from worthy of the 375HH Ruger 1 is the Black Bear, and that is overkill. Some of our western states brethren can probably hook him up with something a little larger and a little more dangerous.

Knut,
That freaking sucks. Your coworker is lucky to have a friend that cares. Cuck Fancer!!

Sorry to hear this about your friend Knut. Sounds like a good guy. Hoping the treatments go well and that he'll enjoy his retirement here.

Cancer Sucks.

Knut, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I sincerely hope his treatments go well. Options and treatments for cancer have come a long way and maybe everything will be ok...? Currently my father and now my wife are cancer survivors. It's a long, hard road but one I pray goes well for all that have to go down it.

Thoughts and prayers definitely go out to your friend! Remember Cancer is not the death sentence now a days that it used to be. Stay positive in your own mind and keep your friend positive. That will be the best thing you can do for you both!

Sorry to hear that Knut. Afaik survival rate is pretty high on that type of cancer so odds are good.

Lost my aunt to breast cancer last Thursday so I full agree on the sucks part...
