Cane Pole Fishing

This was actually the normal way to fish over here in the 60`s. Little fly rods or modern rods with reel at that time.
Some use the same method nowadays but with telescopic glassfibre/composite rods.

I never did like those... I think some of the fun lies in finding a suitable tree, and making the pole yourself. I know my kids love it!:thumbup:

I have never done this , but read about it. Take a long cane pole. , say 10 foot. Put 10 foot of fly line on it and a six foot leader. Now you can cast a weightless fly 26 feet.

From Vesterålen, but have lived in Bodø the last 14 years.

I`ve also done some fishing with "homemade" poles. The tree on the pic. below is Rowan, fitted with nylon string (salmon farm type string) and a homemade Red Tag fly.
