I will carry an axe like this on an upcoming canoe trip this spring. light, easy to pack and tough.
Forged from 1/4 inch 1095 steel
This has been heat treated the same as I would a large chopper knife to Rc 58-60. It cannot be sharpened with a file but a stone will work.
Convex grind to the edge (AKA axe grind) with forged texture on the flats
Stabilized maple burl handle
The tang is tapered under the handle for weight reduction and balance
12 inches from the butt to the top of the head
Length of the head is 4 3/4 inches
Cutting edge is about 4 inches
Weight is 21 ounces
