Hi,

We just got back from a nice 4-day canoe trip in Ontario (Stewart Lake area, about 70 km east of Kenora). Thought I'd share some pics.

Here's my two daughters and future son-in-law paddling:

Here's my daughter and her fiance near sunset:

Our campsite... the tarps were due to the unsettled weather - has a very impressive lightning storm with a loud and close strike in the lake we could see from our tents. The hammock were nice to be lazy in. The Clark Jungle Hammock has a bug net built in, however the bugs were amazingly good... no bug spray for 4 days!

Another canoe shot:

Supper, including bannock with wild blueberries and raspberries from the forest:

More to come...

I actually caught a fish! (amazing for me). It's a small, but legal, northern pike. Gutted it in the boat, and filleted it near camp:

A water lily:

Fantastic photos, that area of the country is beautiful. The wild berry bannock looks awesome! Looks like it must have been a great trip, thanks for sharing.

Nice group of photos. I especially like the sunset paddling shot.

As a Brit. who has met Ray Mears and someone who counts Alan Wood as a close friend - I must compliment you on your choice of knife. Nice to see it being used and not a safe queen !!!!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone :)

Thanks :)

I'm a big Ray Mears fan; I have all his books and DVDs. My wife and I will be going on the canoeing trip in the Ardeche in Sept. 2011 put on by Wooldlore. I don't think Mr. Mears will be there, but it would be great to meet him. I also really respect and enjoy Mors Kochanski, and was fortunate to be able to take a summer survival course with him a few years back.

I enjoy using the Woodlore; it's my main knife I use on trips and hiking. I don't want to keep it pristine and then regret never using it when I'm too old to do these outdoors activities.

You make it look very, very appealing.
You captured the spirit.

With pics like that, I almost got a whif of the smoke from your campfire.

Brings me back to Boundary Waters/Quetico. Man do I miss those North Woods. Nothing like being sung to sleep by the Loons. Thanks for sharing.

Gorgeous pictures, I'm jealous, especially about the no bugs part!!!

No bugs? Can you share some of that luck with me :D

Great pics, thanks for posting
