Canon 40D DSLR Camera? Thoughts?

If you are looking to get the greatest sharpness out of your macro or product style shots, you will want to use a a mid range f-stop. f8 will be perfect, it is where most "sweet spots" exist in lenses.

one of my favorite shots from a 40D:

http://perspicuityphotos.smugmug.com/photos/327770003_Dpfh6-X3.jpg for the LARGE one. not too shabby :) i took a whole series on that particular great blue heron :)

the 50D was just announced (and released). $1300 for the body alone. 15 MP, faster, better screen, more improvements. spiffy beast. the 40D is only a year old. canon broke their 1.5 year rule.

they're even hinting at something that "we all" hope is the 5D mkII - only 5 years late ;)

btw, i posted in the trade forums: ya'll got a nice 580ex II to trade? maye a 430ex II as well? i'll probably break down and buy one before October though.

For anyone looking at a camera now, I didn't read the whole post but to me the most important thing is feel.
Personally I can't stand the little SLR bodies- Own a D70 (uhoh, was this a canon crowd?)
Here's a pair out of my camera from a night or two ago.
