Canon dSLR - A really good toy (pix)

6.3MP, but it doesn't matter.

Here's why - megapixel myth.

I like this camera for its AF and shutter speed, beautiful color rendition and the ability to use high ISO settings. It's still no EOS 1D in the speed department, but for the money you can't beat it.

Really, the camera doesn't matter all that much. It helps, but less than you'd think. I spend a lot more time thinking about the lighting than the camera. My inexpensive A40 let me get some good shots, too.

Here's why the camera doesn't matter, either.

here's an interesting link

Yeah, I saw that pic awhile back--that's just nuts. That must've taken a helluva long time to put together--I haven't even tried stitching two pics together, much less 196.

I've done full 360 stitching with my Canon 10D. It's a b*tch. What impressed me most was this simple line entry:
My normal procedure (using PTAssembler, Panorama Tools and Photoshop) was not sufficient in this case for a number of reasons because of the size and number of images I was working with. For example, the version of Photoshop that I use cannot work with images with pixel dimensions of more than 30,000. So, my solution was to modify some of the existing programs in my workflow, and write a number of new software programs to create this image.
Not enough he planned and executed the project to perfection, he went ahead and wrote software so he could pull the final pic off. The dude has skills.

Mike,

Nice pics! I hope you don't mind but I set the bottles as my PC background.

The fire pics are eerily beautiful! I think that you both really know how to take a great pic!
Matt

Ken,
I can't speak for the photographer, but I doubt he'd mind as long as you promise to post more babe avatars!:D :D ;)
