cant close my spyderco meerkat phantom lock

I have had this knife for like 4 years, bought it brand new, I opened it once and was never able to close it again, I know I am trying to close it the right way, It wont close, THink its possible the pressure lock is stuck? anyone ever have this problem?

Guess it's possible. The Meerkat lock, is relatively complex and has been known to malfunction due to accumulated gunk. But if you have never successfully closed it, my money would be on "operator malfunction". Does the left scale slide/rotate at all when you push on it?
