Hi Spark.

I can't seem to connect to BladeForums from my home computer at all since the move to new servers completed.
"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
Cleared cookies, caches, temp files... Tried both established links in 'Favorites' and typing the address with both 'www' and without. Could this be a problem with my ISP (Comcast)?

...Any suggestions would be much appreciated, TIA! :)

Sent from my Crackberry (which had no trouble locating & accessing BF.com after the move).

Could be your local ISP dns hasn't updated. Signs would point to that since your blackberry has no problems

Thank you for the reply, Kevin. :) I'll give Comcast a call tomorrow if I still have problems.

Kevin,

Does BF have a new IP address now? If so, could you post it for me to try, if ya don't mind? :)

Kevin,

Still can't access BF even after 2 hrs. on the phone with my ISP...although I may have found you a new member (guy seems to be a balisong fan). He suggested that I try finding a customer service number for the company whose servers now host your site. I've tried everything with no success. Can you provide me a phone number to see if my or my internet provider's IP address(s) are being blocked from their end, please??

I'm jonsing for some BF.com and this Crackberry ain't cuttin' it! :) Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Hi Mike,

I tried that but no dice. I am able to ping & tracert to BF, but nothing else. Almost seems like my IP is blocked from the server. I'm completely stumped.
Thank you for posting the site's IP addy though. I appreciate that.

This is very odd......

I seemed to have a similar problem. I could go anywhere else on the 'net But Bladeforums. IE-8 could find BFc, but couldnt connect to it, no matter what i did. Firefox worked fine. I uninstalled IE-8 and it automatically reverted to IE-7 and i was able to connect. IE works fine now. Perhaps there is a conflict between IE-8 and the new BFc domain?

Jaxx, Since the above poster connected with a previous version.. IF you have IE8, try clicking the little 'compatiblity' icon on the upper menu bar.

I had a problem with my own website, and that cured it. It has to be clicked on the home page, though.

Mike Fitz,
Another good idea, but I couldn't get any forum to load under several anon web proxy servers...mebbe they're blocked too?

Karda,
Thank you for this suggestion to revert to IE7... I had high hopes, but just completed removing IE8 and no dice. This is the oddest internet problem I've yet to run across! Every other site I visit loads fine.
Thank you both very much for these suggestions. I really do appreciate your efforts to help me with this problem. :)

It really sounds like your ISP has the old address cached.

Comcast rep read the IP address to me over the phone... 199.231.142.3. Is this the current IP for BladeForums? I asked him about DNS cache and was told that Comcast updates consistently. If that's true then I'm completely stumped as to what the issue is.

NV,
Just checked. No manual entries, only a list of blocked (looped?) entries from Spybot S&D and BladeForums is not in the list.
Thank you kindly for the suggestion. :)

If anyone has any other suggestions, please feel free to post 'em...they would be most appreciated.

I had the SAME problem on Wednesday night through Thursday morning. I KNOW I had the correct password, but I could not log in after the servers went down and back up.

I kept reading the instructions for trouble shooting log-in issues related to cookies and java and such. I cleared my cookies multiple times.

I even tried logging in through Firefox, but no dice. That even counted towards my tally of 5 and "Timed OUT".

I was timed out multiple times for so many failed attempts.

I eventually just requested a new temporary password and was able to log in with it and change my password back.

But, I KNOW I had the correct password. I have used it PLENTY on this forum and I have it on a document to keep records.

DWRW,
I'm not reaching even a log in screen. My browser cannot display any page on BF.
DNS servers have updated several times since the move, and I have tried using other public DNS servers (Google, etc.) outside Comcast with no success on reaching BF only...all other websites frequently used (and a handful of others) I've tested all work perfectly. My last resort besides begging Spark to contact BF's new ISP to see what can be done from their end is to try forcing an IP change to see if this proves/disproves my theory that my current IP is blacklisted from accessing the host server(s).
Comcast CSR's are having no problems accessing BF, so it's not blocked from this end.
