Can't Connect to BladeForums...

Ok, well if you are able to get to the servers through traceroute, then the problem is with your ISP not updating DNS or something, because clearly the info is going through in other directions. In other words, call your ISP's tech support.

That makes sense... ISP claims that the problem isn't from their end either. I'm stumped, but if both ends (you & Comcast) say that there should be no problem, then maybe it's with my computer after all. Back to the drawing board. I'll keep googling for answers.
Thank you, Kevin.

Spark,

I found the problem... Somehow, BF ended up on the Restricted Sites list, whether by name or by IP. Since I know that I didn't manually put it there, I have no explanation as to how. I do know that I checked that list at least 5 times since I couldn't access this site after the move, and went through line by line, and I never saw it listed there, nor in the HOSTS file list (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)

I finally found a possible explanation and this little program called DelDomains (found on this web page: http://windowsfixup.com/2009/03/speeding-up-internet-explorer-8/ which deletes every entry in the Restricted & Trusted sites list. Once done, I had no problems logging in. I'm guessing that one of my older anti-spyware programs or a previous version of my AV/firewall program had entered this site's IP, or a range of IP addresses that encompassed this IP at some point on its blocked list since I've had this computer for over 5 years now. I can't be sure, but surely, I am glad to be back on here with a real computer! :)

My theory is disproved...I wasn't blacklisted by your ISP. :o
Thank you for helping me as much as you could, Kevin, and I'm sorry to have bugged you for help that you couldn't give, now knowing that the problem was with my system.
BTW, the site seems to be running great, now...Thank you for that, too.

Good sleuthing, Jaxx!
I'll be willing to bet that it solves my IE-8 problem too.
I tried reloading IE-8 a couple nights ago, and it still wouldnt work.
EDIT: I installed IE-8 again and BFc came up fine without using DelDomains.
Now i are confused.

Thanxx, Karda, and thank you for your previous suggestion about rolling back to IE7. It may not have worked, but it was something that I hadn't considered yet, and it helped to rule out a browser problem.

BTW, after running that DelDomains program, my IE8 loads a heckuva lot faster now when I open it... It used to take 5-10+ seconds at least, but now loads in about 1-2 seconds maximum. :)

Youre welcome Jaxx, i may be only semi computer literate, but i'm stubborn, and it has proven useful in cases like this. I ran the DelDomains program anyways and it did indeed make it load faster. Thank You. :D

I'm sure glad I opened this thread as I was using IE 8 Tuesday to download MS patch Tuesday's updates and it was running slow as you describe Jaxx and now after downloading and running DelDomains it's now doing the 1-2 seconds loads again as you describe!  :D
Thank you Jaxx! :D
