all BATACs are INFI. All the new stuff is. The only ones that might not be are the Straight Handle series from the 90s
I liked the Swamprat Ratmandu and SJTAC more than the BATAC but they are all great knives. I would also look at the S5LE(INFI), BOSS Jack, Skinny ASH1, S5CG(SR101) and maybe 511 if you don't mind a smallish handle to save $200+
seems how you asked about swamp rats, SR-101 isnt as tough as infi but holds an edge longer, jerry busse has chimmed in before and said its the closest thing you can get to INFI but has better edge retention and is his second choice as far as steels go, my RMD's hold an edge forever almost and are as tough as nails.
I've been interested in getting a strider fixed blade but I've got to say, the INFI steel is as tough as it gets, and the SR101 swamp rat isn't far behind. CPM s30v is what I see strider use the most and I know it's not as tough as those two steels.
Check out those destruction tests on YouTube of some Busse and swamp rat. You'll see their nearly indestructible whereas the CRK green beret isn't so much. I forget what the channel is called but the guy has great videos!
I understand what all the fuss is about. What piece of steel.
Thanks for the advice guys, I'm TOTALLY blown away.
I still love how refined, balance and sweet the my Pacific is, but if I HAD to grab one knife I can't see how it wouldn't be the Batac. I know it's the first afternoon of the honeymoon but I've never seen ANYTHING like this knife!
