Hello there!
I am trying to choose my first EDC knife for around a week already. Yes, there are too many designs, manufacturers and so on and so on... I do finally stopped my eyes on just 3 models but I still can not pull the trigger!

1. Bestech Samari - All Black https://www.knifecenter.com/item/BT...oint-blade-black-stonewashed-titanium-handles

2. Zero Tolerance 0707

3. Zero Tolerance 470

I do like more of a gentleman look and my job kinda suits it.
Please do suggest between the three models and give an argument what would you choose if was me!
Thank you, I appreciate all the response!!!

Given that you lean toward a "gentlemen's knife", I'd go with the 0470, as well. While it isnt quite what I consider a gentlemen's knife, it has the most refined appearance of the three. Truth be told, it's one that I've almost bought, myself, on several occasions.
The 0707 has a certain appeal, and would be my second choice.
The Bestech wouldn't even be in the running, for me.

Can you give us a little more background?
Approximate job?

Me, I'd choose Other.
Something even Dressier, classic... Not futuristic

I want a nice gentleman's knife, but I work with my hands and can't justify one....

So I carry a fixed blade and a benchmade/HK

I am a store manager. I do give tasks to my employees and sometimes got my hands dirty as well (opening and cutting boxes). I do like only these designs so far ;S The knife will be used in light to medium daily tasks, but I am pretty sure all of the above will handle...

Your post left me thinking that the 0707 was an assisted opening knife, which would have eliminated it for me, as well. I went back to the linked page - it's still my second choice of the three.

B blentik if you are open to suggestions, check out the Southern Grind Spider Monkey. Still not what I consider a gentlemen's knife; but light, stylish, and quite useable. Before the Iron Pup came, it was my regular work carry.

The Hogue Ritter is a great knife; but I don't think any of the available scale options would suit... so, my second recommendation would be from TRM. I chose the Atom; and, size-wise, it's comparable to the others on your list.

Oh dang, I totally read that as the 0770. Really wish ZT would name their models. 🤣

I've owned an 0707, and it's a little piece of wizardry -- an incredible blade:handle and blade:weight ratio, with ZT's typical excellent fit and finish. But for me the double detent, which prevents it from dropping shut, makes it a touch less fun than other similar knives.

I'd still go with the 0470. :)

0470.

The Bestech is just ugly. Thick blade stock, uncomfortable looking handle and just kinda silly looking. It looks a little murdery to pull out at the store.

Based on you described usage, I'd go for something a little smaller. You don't need anything that big to cut boxes or similar tasks and that size will be noticeable (both to you and others) in the pocket.
Since this is your first carry knife, I'd buy something less expensive first to get a better feel for your needs and then buy a more permanent solution.
I guarantee you'll still end up with a drawer full of other knives.

The ZT 0470 will make a great EDC
I had one an it was very good
My only complain, and the reason why I sold it, is how thick behind the edge it is.
If your EDC tasks are mainly cutting tapes, cardboards or this kind of things it wil perform just great
If you do some food prep with your EDC, it will not be the best option

however I can really recommend it.

for half the price, if you can find a Drop Gent, you will get a smaller and slicer blade
The built quality will not match ZT, but at the end I still have my Gent but sold my 0470 :(

I already have an expensive hobby.... Watches.... Some knives will join em for sure..

Welcome to Blade Forums. As a manager, you want something classy that can also handle your cutting chores. (I know the role well. I managed a shoe store near the end of the last century.) Restricted to your list, I'd pick the 0470. However, I'd want to think about some other things before locking in a recommendation. What is your background with EDC knives? For instance, do you like frame locks? Do you like the feel of titanium scales? How do you want the knife to carry in your pocket?

I like more slender knives. I usually carry a lot of stuff in my trouser's pockets. Both ZTs are lightweight, but the 0707 is EXTRRME in these 2 aspects! Anyway something in the design of 0470 is telling me it is the more handsome and special one for me. It is really hard when I can't just touch both and keep them in my hands for a minute... I already removed the bestech from the options.. :)

I voted for the 470. I’ve owned several ZT’s and they were all outstanding knives. IMO, Zero Tolerance is one of the best brands in their price range. If you decide to go with the 470 as your first edc, you probably won’t regret it.

Welcome to Bladeforums.

If I had to choose one of the three listed, I'd pick the 470. The 707 is a close 2nd choice for me.

As 2 220-9er mentioned, if this is your first real knife, it might make sense to pick something a little less expensive as you learn what you like and don't like in a knife.
