Can't decide on which brand of sunglasses

I wear Serengeti with the red/brown "drivers" glass lenses. The Getaway model to be exact. It's the only model I've found that fits me without modification and doesn't make me look like a douchebag. Apart from a really cool pair of Maui Jims that cost a bit more than I wanted to spend.

I know how obnoxious it is when people suggest a brand you're not really interested in, but have you looked at Oakley?

They have some more traditional styles out now, and their sunglasses are basically bomb-proof.

They will send you a new pair of sunglasses for $80.00, no matter what you do to your current pair. I've worn the Spikes for a good three years now, and just swap pairs whenever the lenses get too scratched up.

Plus, after wearing polarized lenses, I'm never going back to plain tinted.

I literally got hit in the face with a refrigerator while helping a friend move a few weeks back, and was surprised not to see any damage to my sunglasses.

Well he already made his choice so it doesn't make since to keep making recommendations.

But I personally will never own another pair of Oakleys. Most of them don't even have real hinges and just snap together like a 2 dollar toy. The lenses scratch easy and they only have a 1 year warranty. I have a pair that the coating on the lens started peeling off. It is not my fault, it is because they are crappy lenses but because they were a gift and I don't have the receipt they will replace the lenses for just under a $100 because they are polarized. Just because they make junk doesn't mean that I should have to pay for it when it falls apart. But they are so big so they don't care if they screw you over because there are plenty of people willing to stand in line for a junky pair of glasses.

I had a pair of glass lens Smiths that were indestructible. They fell off my face 3 or 4 times riding my bike on campus and slid on concrete and the lens didn't get scratched, though the frames were some. They also fell off my head from a second story balcony on to concrete. The frame cracked and was fixed with a drop of super glue and the lenses were fine. I finally lost them but would love to have another pair.

I now have Costa Del Mar. Amazing glasses and fit me great. They also have a lifetime warranty and not that 1 year garbage. I had a pair fall off the top of my head and they cracked when they landed. I took them into a store and the guy gave me a new pair and said they have a great warranty and would be reimbursed. Maui Jims are supposed to be comparable but I haven't tried them yet although there is a paid I want to get eventually. There are much better quality sunglasses out there to have to settle for Oakleys cheap mass produced junk they pump out. They are like the Fisher Price of the sunglass world and I have 3 pairs of them. Can you tell I don't like them?

I've usually had great CS from Oakley and they have serviced my old glasses for free every time. The lenses scratch easier than glass, but they take impacts better. All my Oakleys have replaceable lenses (Half Jackets, Juliets and XX X-metals) and only one lens has gone bad in the last 13 years (Oakley replaced it for free on a pair that were several years old). Haven't kept any receipts..

I understand why you don't want to use them given your experience, but they are my preferred brand. Bollè have also been great sunglasses for me (both glass and plastic lenses).

I had some Oakleys but now I wear Serengeti's and I love them, best glassed ever.
Everybody thinks their expensive but you only have 2 eyes so protect them.

Accept no substitutes.

Im gonna get banned one day repeat linking the Ninja Shades Mask, but tis worth it, its cooler than a penguins tail feathers.

As for specific brands that I use, Bobster are pretty good and cheap. Poor mans Oakley but they may have some Tortoise shell patterned frames available and they do Polarise their lenses.
