i live in Georgia, just north of atlanta. i need a do it all knife, and can't decide which to get. i have a rat-1 and am going to order an izula and either a rc4 or rc6 . it will be used as a camp knife/ hiking/ hunting/bob do it all which should i get? i will be using it in northern georgia.

RC-4 is more suited to the versatility of activities discussed above. RC-6 is one hell of a camp knife with a more generous and comfortable handle. Basically boils down to whether or not you think a 6" x 1.5" wide blade is too big to put on your belt. The RC-6 isn't too heavy or anything but some folks just don't like carrying such a big blade. Due to the width it is a much larger knife than say a Buck119 also rated at 6". RC-6 might be too big for most skinning chores but can be used for that purpose if needed.

RC-4 is a more compact but bombproof knife. Better at skinning and fine tasks. Won't be as good for food prep or wood splitting tasks. Strong enough to do the latter, but the 4" provides limitations on the size of wood that can be tackled.

i respect your opions but still have a question would the combo of the rc 6 and izula cover a wider range of tasks than the rc 4 and izula?

They both have good qualities. I think you going to have to look at how your going to use it, what do you expect out of the knife.

With a RC6 and an Izula you should be covered.

OR

RC6 and RC3

Either I think would work great, like the RC3 for the serrated edge part.

I have a RC6, plan on getting an Izula and a RC3 as well, that would be my perfect combination.

I personally really like the RC-4 paired with the Izula.

The RC-4 is the biggest belt knife I would pack around for hiking, fishing and hunting. I've have a fixed blade Buck 119 for years and never have packed it on my belt. As mentioned above, the RC-6 is heavier and bigger than the Buck 119.

Your mileage may vary, however.

The size of knife you are comfortable with is a very personal decision. There is no universal "right" answer/choice.

i just got my rc 6, yall were right it is a big knife but i love it. the izula will be here soon and i will also be buying a rc 4, just because i want one

Welcome to the club. :)

col- I've also got a few bucks. I found I liked the 105 more often than the 119

I think the RC-4 just leaves you wanting an inch or so in both directions. That's just me. The RC-4 was great don't get me wrong but it just need that little extra push, that's where the RC-6 comes in. I love mine. Some may say it's alittle big but I have an obsession with big fixed blades haha. I honestly don't think it's that big. Just thoguht i'd give input :)

If you decide you want the RC-6, by all means wait until you can order the one with the kit. It only is a few weeks anyway ...
