I've narrowed my choices down to these two knives, but I'm having trouble w/ my final decision. Without being able to see these knives in person, I look to you fine folks for some guidence!
I think the deciding factor will be on build quality. If the Manix and Harsey Ranger T2 have similar builds, I would lean towards the Manix since it's slightly less expensive.
Thanks for you help!

Harsey Ranger?

Take the Manix.

The guys at the local knife shop here in Victorville are all over the Harsey but why? $ thats why.

With the Manix you get a knife that should last your grandkids lifetime for a hundred bucks. I have two now, because if one gets lost or stolen I just don't want to be without one.

Good luck on your search.

I have both and I greatly prefer the Manix. The manix feels better in the hand and I think the blade grind is better

I have both and I like the harsey myself. I have one in Coccobolo, I like that its lighter and rides a little better in my pockets. I think its just as sharp as the manix too but thats my opinion. Both are great knives, its just personal preference for me. A T2 will run you 185 an manix 100. I suggest you hold both and see which one you like better, they are completley diff knives in my opinion, both in feel of use and in carry.

I've never held a Harsey myself, but I'd go with the Manix any day. Some say it's (Manix) too big, I don't find the size or weight bothersome at all.

I prefer the T-2 over the manix. In my opinion it has a more solid feel. The manix is a great knife but I just feel it is a little to plain as well :) . The lone wolf is unique and the fit and finish has vastly improved on lone wolfs over the past couple of years.

They both sport S30V blades. The manix is flat ground, and the lonewolf can be had in flatgrind if thats your preference. The Manix has great G-10 handles and is very comfortable. The Lone Wolf though has some of the best ergos I have felt on a folding knife. Also you can get the knife with a wood handle or the standard zytel which is very tough. The locks on both are very tough but i prefer the Lone Wolf again simply because I have heard of the manix lock closing after a sudden shock to the spine (spine whack) but I have never had a problem with this at any point.

Basically it comes down to personal choice and which you like better. Plus if anything does go wrong both have excellent customer service.

another vote for the manix or mini manix, I love my mini manix. Mini doesn't really mean mini in this case.

You are going to have to elaborate on that as the Manix is a much stronger knife than the Harsey and has a full length backspacer.

Its just one of those things :) . To me the manix looks a lot stronger but it doesn't feel it. I really don't know how to explain it other than that. Maybe i'm just weird..........

Do you have a link Jill Jackson?

Those are some decent prices.

I own both knives. I see the Manix is getting most of the votes but that doesn't mean the T2 isn't an equally fine knife. It fits better in the pocket and is a nicer EDC as far as that goes. It's S30V blade is a great cutter and stays sharp forever (Manix is S30V also). I love my Manix but to carry it I had to get a custom "friction" sheath made for it. That was not necessary for the T2. Both are great knives. If at all possible, see if you can handle both of them and see what they feel like in your pocket. You really can't go wrong with either one. If you're like me, you'll end up owning both eventually. Good hunting.

Regards

Just ordered a Manix myself. I got the larger one, does anybody have an opinion about whether the large or small is more preferable? In any event I'm a fan of the flat grind, so that was a big factor in deciding to pick one up.

Just as a side note, the T2 is also a flat grind. I also like this grind and I almost always go for it or a hollow grind.

Be really carefull with buying any lone wolf knives! I got the slipjoint pocket knife, city knife, it came with a big case of grinder burn on the blade.

forget it, worlds apart .........buy the manix.

Typical. One bad experience and the whole company is bad. That's obsurd. I had to have a Manix replaced that had a poorly machined lock mechanism. I had to have a Benchmade Ruckus replaced because the blade kept chipping during sharpening. I've had 2 Mcusta's replaced because of poor blade finish.

Lone Wolf makes a great knife. Just ask the military. The T2 and T3 are 2 of the best production knives on the market. Let's be fair about this. Both are fine knives. As a first purchase I would go for the Manix but not because Lone Wolf doesn't make a fine product. They also have great customer service, as does Spyderco.
