Hello,

Are there any Norwegians on the forums? I'm about to start my first knife, but i can't sees to find the materials i need. The stores and suppliers i do find only sell in larger quantities. So i would like to ask if anyone know where to source what i need? Is there any online site maybe that offer materials in smaller quantities with International shipping?

Cheers,
Kim.

International shipping might cost more than the steel itself. It might just be cheaper in the long run to buy in a slightly larger quantity.
That being said, I'm sure you'll easily find steel from the UK
http://www.knifebargains.co.uk
There might be many more distributors in UK and Germany. Just Google knife steel UK.

Throughout Europe have a decent selection of shops let's start from nearer you.
Finland, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Italy
in my database is a lengthy list ... so if you're interested and I do not know
explore sources send me a message to the list.

There should be several European suppliers of knife blades and materials. Dictum is one, Workshop Heaven is another.

Thanks! What steel do i want to get? I can see there is a number of options, which one is the best one for knife making?
I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm pretty sure the answer you'll get from those who are is, "That depends...."
Depends on what type of knife or what you plan on doing with the knife.
Do a search on this site and you'll get more info than you know what to do with it...
And/Or check out the stickies at the top of the forum...

Yes it depends on what you want to make.
I made my first one by stock removal out of stainless RWL34 (~cpm154) and outsourced the heat treat (HT)
Brisa sells that and I know that the German shops do HT on that for app. 8euro per blade
It will give you a very good knife
