Can't get a straight line to save my life

I tried to find it for you but didn’t have any success. It may be buried somewhere in the YouTube video by Don Nguyen but watching through them won’t do you a disfavor.

Thank all of you for your help. I will be applying all of this advice in the coming weeks again thank yell for the help

Just watched that Vid. Great info again I will be using that in my shop. Dumb Question do you shape then heat treat then grind or shape grind then heat treat?

Generally you grind it to look like a knife from the side first, regardless of if you HT before or after grinding the bevels...

I always grind my profiles, drill holes pin holes, and knock down the edge 45s prior to heat treat. I’ve also started leaving a little extra steel beyond the tip for support while grinding and then grind it off at the end. I’ll see if I can find a pic.

i have a small 1x30 grinder, and i can get good enough bevels by standing a little higher (so your looking down at the knife)
i don't know if this is a problem tho

Little Grey wolf Forge
Thank you for your input. I am actually an accomplished woodworker, Prop maker, Gunsmith, and Yes, I agree 100% I always buy the best tools available to me even if I have to grow into them. I currently have an older Beaumont 2x72 1 1/2 Horse that I love. In this case it's not the tools it's the operator LOL. Making fixed blade knives is not really hard you just have to follow procedure and Practice, practice, practice. And thanks to folk like you on these boards you help guys like me from practicing down the wrong path.

oh no Little grey wolf I am a beginner knife maker just not a beginner maker of things but here we are talking about my amateur status in the blade world LOL Thanks for your help
