Can't help but notice.

I've had it repeatedly suggested to me to start advertising on this site over the years. You'll notice I haven't.

Even if I did, ads would only show up for non-paying members.

In all honesty, there are a number of obstacles before I could even consider doing ads, and I'm not interested in the additional headaches.

You are not a member. You are a registered user. A 1-year basic membership is $10. That's less than 3 cents a day.

Try it before you charge in and decide it needs to be changed.
 
Gotta chime in here, myself.

The blatant lack of ads here on BF, and the fact that this lack of ads is the exception, and not the norm for this type of website, is one of the biggest reasons why I have a paying membership here.

Without making BF seem hokey or small, this site reminds me of an old time general store from a hundred or so years ago. We (the customers) loyally do our business with Spark (The general store), and in return for our continued, regular patronage, we are allowed to conduct our business (chatting on BF) in relative peace without any annoying gimmicks (commercials/ads).

I also think the lack of ads makes this particular site feel more like a family of like minded folks, rather than an enterprise after our dollars. It's more comfortable this way, which is why I'll gladly continue to renew at the platnium level indefinitely:thumbup:

When I was looking at membership fees and levels, I considered the great enjoyment, camaraderie and education that these forums provide. Doing the math, a platinum membership is less than 14¢ a day.

I am more than happy to support this ad free forum, as well as Spark's work.
 
Agreed. Pony up for at least Basic. The pay-to-play concept works well here.

Plus, it helps keep the riffraff out.

Supporting this site is well worth it. I spend time here, met some people who share similar interests. I also have enriched myself with the knowledge of other makers, users, collectors etc. Spending a few bucks helps keep BF going, and it doesn't have those irritating adds cluttering up the screen.
 
I'll happily pay my dues here to support bladeforums. It's like a small Texas town: Nice bunch of folks, no interference from you outsiders, and everybody watches out for each other. We don't need no stinkin' adds here, things area just fine the way they are.

I don't see why. We regularly have people suggesting we get ads so that they don't have to pay to use search, pm's, etc.
