Can't quite find the right piece of steel

Still working on my first knife project. I had a piece of 3/16" x 2" 1095 from Jantz that I was using for stock removal. I was decently along when I screwed it up, so I'm starting over.

Which I'm okay with. I figured I might not get it right on the first try. I also realized a couple of changes I'd like while I was working on that one. Plus, I'm going to use the almost finished piece as a heat treat guinea pig.

I still have enough of the steel left for another go, but I wouldn't mind finding a better piece. The one I got was slightly rolled at the edges, which meant that I both couldn't use the full width and that there was a lot of finishing to get it flat.

I guess my ideal piece would be 3/16" thick and 2 1/2"+ wide. And as completely flat as I can get it. I don't at all mind having to cut off a rolled edge as long as the resulting piece is at least 2 1/2" wide. I'd prefer annealed, but I've got access to a kiln, so I can do that myself if necessary.

I'm doing everything by hand and feel like I've got a good feel for the 1095, so I'm reluctant to switch steels. I've been looking all morning, but am having trouble finding a piece that size. Yesterday, I e-mailed Jantz, Admiral, and Precision, but haven't heard back yet.

Anyone have a line on something like this or some extra stock they'd be willing to sell?

Ah, I just found their blade steel pdf. All I'm seeing in the wider thicknesses is the HR. That's not annealed, is it?

Just called them up. Got 3/16" x 3" x 6' not annealed for about $40.

Guess I need to read up on the annealing after all :)
