Picked up a whittler from Tony this week and the whole deal was an enjoyable experience. The quality of the knife was way beyond my expectations of someone who has been making for such a short time. The quality of the person I got to talk to was even better.

Knowing Gus, and some of the knives he has in his collection, I can't think of a more glowing reccomendation to put a Huffman knife on my Short List of makers for a SJ.

Gus you old dog.I was going to let Huffman take it to Austin to the show and I was going to have someone buy it there.Great catch. He(Huffman)is on my list.

Now I feel a little guilty. Did not mean to steal it from you Randy.

Anyway here is a pic of the knife and the knife is better than the pic. I really am impressed with every aspect of it.

Randy we'll have to work on Tony to make us a couple of Dr. patterns. If you talk to him, just go ahead and tell him to make it two. :D

Gus,

I always feel good when someone says they likes one of my knives. I am overjoyed when they are willing to tell other they like my work. I have read and really appreciate what you had to say about the little whittler on the other threads.

I always worry that "I didn't get something just right". I know I need to try and continue to improve. :o

There are some great makers out there and I am fortunate enough to call some of them my friends. I have to thank Johnny Stout, Harvey Dean, Dwayne Dushane, and Martin Pullen for all the help they have given me.

But at the top of that list has to be Bill Ruple. He has helped me come farther and faster than I could have on my own. He is a good friend and mentor. I owe Bill a lot.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and encouragements. God Bless each of you.

Best Wishes

Hi Gus, Tony, and All
I have the 2 blade version of the little swellcenter wharncliffe, and I use it for my whittling and it is my favorite whittler. In my pocket daily is Tony's green bone 3 blade sowbelly stockman. Tony makes a solid walk and talk slip-joint. I hope to get others from Tony in the future. I have 4 of Bill Ruple's knives and you can sure see the influence. Enjoy your knife Gus, and my best to a talented up and coming knifemaker. Regards, Jim
