Can't use paypal to upgrade my membership.

Hi, I'm an American living in Japan and tried to upgrade my membership, but was faced with this:

"All non United States orders must be pre-paid with money order or wire transfer." :thumbdn:

Money order? Wire transfer?

Where am I? Don't we use paypal to pay for things on the intrawebs? I'm used to my credit card getting rejected, but this is a first. I'm sure I have seen a bit of 'ahem' moaning about people not upgrading, not supporting the site, etc...:jerkit: It doesn't seem like you want my, or the rest of the world's, money all that badly.

Paypal, which is owned by ebay, is anti-gun. Therefore, BFC does not support or use any such service that follows those principles.

I found this link interesting. Seems it might be that since both Ebay and Paypal are California companies, they are just conforming to strict gun laws in California.

Seriously, it seems like you are cutting off your nose to spite your face. Lol, principled paupers. How's that working for you? Got a lot of non-U.S. supporting members?

Won't take my international credit card, money order and wire transfer are way too much of a pain in the ass. Are there any loopholes I could slip my 30 bucks through? ;););)

I just want to upgrade so I can introduce some wonderful Japanese hand axes to a broader audience.

Wow, thanks for being a condescending dickhead. Well, two can play at that game.

First off, we have a really handy area of this website called the FAQ, holding a bunch of Frequently Asked Questions and their answers. A link to it is found at the top of the screen. Of course, you already know about this because you read the thread saying to check the FAQ before posting questions in this forum. Oh wait, you didn't.

If you had, you'd have found this section regarding paypal - http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/faq.php?faq=paying_membership_howto#faq_faq_paying_member_paypal

2nd, two down from that FAQ entry, there's even a section for using international credit cards. WHOA, ZOMG, it's almost like we've thought of this situation. You probably read that though, when you read the FAQ. We have plenty of international customers who were able to follow the very simple instructions.

Third, Paypal is anti gun, as is ebay. They donate money to the Brady Campaign. They have no problem collecting money for the Brady's, but you can't use it to pay for "dangerous items". "Oh we're going to get sued" is a joke and a convenient excuse - have you ever heard of mastercard or visa being sued because someone used it to buy a firearm? I didn't think so. They are a California company and it reflects their beliefs. Use your account to buy or sell something firearms or weapons related? You can have it frozen and your funds seized. WHAT A DEAL!

Fourth, Paypal is a real group of assholes regarding funds. There are hundreds of thousands of people who've been screwed by them to the tune of hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars. No thanks. It may be "convenient" for you, but then, reading the FAQ shouldn't have been difficult either.

My bad. I should have read the FAQ first before posting. :foot:

Otoh, if I'd been shown that loophole in the first reply, I wouldn't have had the inclination or opportunity to upgrade my condescendership.

You aren't going to ban me as soon as I upgrade are you? :p I'm usually reasonably polite.

You did not get an infraction, so upgrade and forget about it. Welcome to BladeForums, it is well worth whatever level you upgrade to.

Had you read the FAQ's to begin with prior to posting (which everyone should do) we wouldn't be having this conversation, would we?

But, then again, this conversation is a valuable life experience that must surely have helped me to grow and become a better person. If I could go back in time, I don't think I'd do anything differently.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Anyhoo, I've just sent my 30 electronic green backs shooting towards you at the speed of Yahoo, so I've nothing further to say on the matter. My time would surely be better spent reading any and all FAQ's and Sticky's.
