Cant wait for the next spydie flipper!

Would Golden even have capacity to add another knife to production? I would love to have a smaller, Golden built flipper, but I would think another design would need to be discontinued.

Someday I will buy a Golden produced flipper.Someday!I can wait....

If you ask me the quality of the products that come out of taichung taiwan are on par with anything that comes out of Golden, so if that's whats stopping you from getting one of the current flippers I'd say just go for it you wont be dissapointed:thumbup:

I don't think is a question of quality. Some people feel it's important to buy knifes built in the usa.

It's ok to me; makes it easier for me to get taichung knives. :)

I'm looking forward to see any upcoming Spyderco flippers as well. Have the Domino and love it, so light and thin, and love the CF pattern. I have been holding off on the Southard, want to actually fondle before I purchase, but if the right deal comes along, I'm sure I will jump on it!

If you have the opportunity to get a southard I would highly recommend just getting it, throw a new scale on it if you don't like the brown g10 and you'l love it!:D And its quite a safe bet cause if you don't like it it wont be hard getting your money back on it, they sell quick!

I can't wait for the first spydie flipper! I think their production is stretched way thin recently and that they need to be able to stock what they have before taking on any new projects. "You can't sell bread with an empty basket."
Also, flippers benefit from steel inserts.......... Russ

I hope you mean "you're" first spydie flipper since this whole thread is about the 2 flippers they already made lol:D

Please share! :)
Well, they had a flipper concept model at the OKCA called the Introvert. It was a folding Swick 2 - where the Perrin indexing hole went through the back and acted as a flipper. It's a back lock. I think the blade was similar to a PM2 blade in shape but about 2.25" in length. The model I saw had g10, skeletonized liners, and a wire clip.

My brain is stuck on visualizing a flipper that's a back lock... Does... Not.... Compute... :p

Google image SOG Twitch, don't know if it is similar to the Spyderco prototype, but SOG has a way of doing it. I really don't like the knife personally, but it is an interesting solution to wanting a back lock combined with a flipper. I am not so sure why that combination would be desirable anyway.

The way spyderco did it, it is ambidextrous, and has a reasonable (1") self close which doesn't happen on RIL or framelocks without springs.

I'd love it if Sal could design a flipper with the compression lock. Other attributes I'd want would be 3.5" blade, fully exposed Spyder hole when closed, textured G10, and a wharncliffe blade.

That sounds very intriguing. ;)

The Szabo could be converted into something like this if you make a new blade for it and take a coil or two off of the closing spring.

I think they can stay around the same price and keep that quality up like they have. Most flipped have a steel liner with g10 scale. The domino and Southard are the only production flippers I know of that are all titanium.

Also the domino is thinner and a little less expensive than the Southard.

I would really really like to see a techno flipper

Golden made flipper, don't care if it's titanium, 3.5" wharnie done!

3" PPT-like flipper with Ti&M390 for me please ^^, none too picky where they make it either

+1 on this. Time for a wharnie perhaps similar to the Hinderer XM 18 but with a hole. K390, M4, Cru Wear? Golden or Taiwan :D Please
