Get you a WWII one.
My first canteen is dated 1945, had it since I was 5 years old.
My newest 1945 has bakelite cap, got it from my uncle when air force went to plastic canteens.
The metal taste reminds me of drinking from metal dipper found next to water well or water bucket on front porch.
