How do these two compare?
My guess is that they both take modest abuse?

I have a few cheap plain figure ironwood scales laying around.
I plan on making a full tang bush craft knife.
Will it be as robust as were it made with canvas micarta?

No, it won't. Micarta is a nearly indestructible phenolic resin material.
Desert Ironwood is - well - wood.

But the Ironwood is surely better looking for most applications.

+1 and when finished the ironwood is smooth and when wet fairly slick (but it is beautiful) the canvas micarta is grippy when wet.
