Canvas Micarta vs. G10 in a user.

If I think there is even a chance of the knife being used for field dressing, meat processing, or food prep I go with g10 to avoid bacteria absorbing into the handle. Just my opinion. Like stated above, both are more than tough enough so you really can't lose.

I've always preferred the feel of Canvas micarta for larger knives and choppers, linen or paper micarta (or G10 if micarta not available) for a smaller knife.

I agree with Garth re. food prep and G10. I feel that G10 can sometimes make a small knife too handle-heavy though, all other things being equal.

G10 certainly has more colourful options.

If the shit really hit the fan I'd pick G10 for the zombie apocalypse, but as long as there's soap/civilization readily available - I prefer the feel of Canvas Micarta.

I do a lot of butchering and skinning. I always go with G-10 just because it is easy to clean.

I prefer canvas micarta. I think it gives a good grip, cleans easy, and has a good feel to it. I regularly use micarta handled knives for chickens, ducks, and deer. Soap and hot water makes them look new again.

Hot soapy water and canvas micarta is fine. I prefer it because of the slightly better grip. YMMV.

Now you guys got me thinking about using some canvas handles next time I go on a hunt.
