Recommendation? Capuchadou or Le Thiers?

Which French Folder should I get?

I like these very well, but Schmalhaus has me intrigued by the quality of the Fontenille Pataud. It may not be worth the extra cost, but I may be able to shave some costs with a discount to even the balance.
Schmalhaus has wonderful videos. He's done some on the Chambriard knives too, but I have to have some Fontenile Pataud knives, even if they cost a little more.
I might look for Schmalhaus's book on pocket knives.

So I think this thread was a bad idea. I couldn't decide. Now I've got to go pick something out that I can sell :-D

Hello ,

I don't want to make your choice more complicated
Capuchadou and Thiers are not my favourite shape . But both Chambriard and Fontenille have a very well made production.

I would prefer ..
An Aurillac

or a Roquefort

I love this little knife called the Galvacher :

Of course the Langres:

And the Pradel :

Sorry again to make your choice more difficult :D

Like JM, too many patterns jump to my mind, I'll keep two, the very simple capucin,
cognet-capuc-cnoire-1-leger.jpg

and a recently revived pattern, the gunstock (crosse), updated as Ligérien (name of all related to river Loire - the last wild river in Europe) with a mouche and a clip instead of pen blade.

Thanks for the recommendations. I like those well and I almost went for the 5coqs that FP makes. There will always be more to try. :)

Also lovely examples! The French do cutlery so elegantly. It seems to be their way. :)
