Hey Guys, I was planning on making a small knife to keep in my car in case of emergencies, and I was wondering what design you guys would suggest. It would probably be simple uses, cutting food/ rope/ trimming things. I dont plan on doing anything crazy with it. I was probably going to make it out of 15n-20 or w2, but I was wondering what design you guys would suggest

Drop point? Warncliff? Low long of a blade? how thick at the spine? Should i temper it softer or harder? Thanks guys, and happy holidays.

I agree with Stacy, a multitool is a must have for the car.

I think you might be overthinking things a bit in regards to the knife.

As a knife maker I vote you make a knife and get a multi tool. I would just make a drop point with 3-4" blade. I think a drop point is the most versatile style blade. 1/8" stock.

I have a leatherman surge in both my trucks and one tied on my life jacket on the boat. it's a small tool bag at your disposal.

If you want a knife you can put in your car and forget about it untill you need it I'd go with a stainless

If you need a knife for an emergency situation carbidized Titanium is a great choice. I've been developing a rescue/survival knife and after extensive testing I don't think the combo can be beat when it comes to aggressive cutting.

The Ti/Carbide combo will cut through a seat belt like it isn't even there.
