Carbidized Ti for EDC? (Sharpening?)

I didn't assume it would defeat airport security. I realize the body scanners show images and (hopefully) the security agents are trained well enough to identify weapons. However, I agree with Jens, most walk through scanners are set pretty low, in my experience. I'm sure if I was wanded it would probably pick up the blade.

I think there's already videos and stories of people setting off metal detectors with titanium implants.

The old detectors would find any metal object even titanium. It has to do with induced electricity and not magnetism. Its kind of a reversed electro magnetism if you want.
I guess the myth that titanium can not be detected by metal detectors will never die. Might actually be good if the evil doers continue to believe it, but will be sad if a harmless Knifenut has to surrender his expensive titanium blade to some security guard at a landmark or public building.

If it's really necessary I'd metal detect a few titanium objects and post a video. But just think about it, don't they also work on nonmagnetic gold for example?

Titanium can definitely be picked up by metal detector. I have a titanium and plastic (no steel or anything else) artificial disc in my back and I set off the metal detector in the county courthouse every single time. They gave me an ID card with the Dr's phone number to show the people operating the metal detectors in case I ever need it.
