High quality 3K Weave Carbon Fiber slabs. Strong and beautiful material for many different uses. Each slab can be cut into one, two, or even three pairs of knife scales of different sizes. We keep the slab in its entirety to give more flexibility to the buyer. But if you prefer just one pair of matching scales, simply cut it in half.

June 21, only a few boards left

When working on it, protection of eyes and throat from carbon fiber dust is paramount. Workers must wear full goggles and a dust mask to prevent dust inhalation.

100% carbon fiber. Technicalities of the manufacturing process from the maker: "Outer Material: 2x2 3k Carbon Fiber Prepreg. Inner Material: 0/90 Balanced Unidirectional Carbon Fiber Prepreg. Exterior Finish: Matte/Matte".

I'll add the %3 for the fees and the shipping for a rounded total of $35 I'll have you paid in 1.5-2 hours when I get done with work

Curious about these, you mention these using unidrectional pre-preg, so I'm guessing they will show a different weave if these are contoured?

Also, what's the void ratio like with this prepreg construction? I know pre-preg is more weight/strength efficient, but are there higher void percentages?

Hi, the description of the construction was copied from the manufacturer's note. My best understanding is you are right. These are relatively thin boards meant for mostly "2D" type of work. "uni direction" carbon fiber and all woven carbon fiber has slight
different looks in the cross section. The former has more straight lines, the latter has groups of curvy lines. But the woven pattern (Twill , Plain) will not show in the cross section. In reality we did not see any real differences unless you remove the top layer of the material.

The thicker material, such as 1/4" and above, will usually be all woven throughout. When these are used in a "3D" project the woven pattern can show up even if the surface is removed. However, the price of such material is often 4 to 6 times higher.

In my opinion, for a very thick board such as 1/2" the differences in the looks can be detected easier, more or less justify the price differences. For a thin 1/8" or 3/16" the differences in looks are hard to detect unless you look for it intentionally.

Regarding your second question, it is a bit beyond my knowledge. If you are asking if the inside has voids or bubbles, that data was not disclosed by the manufacturer, we tested several boards and found no voids of any kind. The density was tested to be perfect 1.60 gram/cm3, which is the number usually shows a good solid full impregnation. My own experience is, the voids tend to show up on the surface of a glossy carbon fiber board. On any of these boards the surface areas are all perfect without a single void.

Practically, we sold many boards from this batch. And we never received a complaint on the quality of the material. We do offer a full refund if anyone is not happy with the material. Thank you.
