Hey Guys,

i messed around with some damascus and made a few rings.

they came out sweet (i think) but they tend to rust on a sweaty finger.

i tried some butchers wax on it with no luck.

anyone have any suggestion on keeping it from rusting off my finger?

i'll post some pics

eastwood company makes a clear coating for motorcycle parts like fork tubes and side cases. its non yellowing and is durable. you could check into some of it. sears sells the stuff i do believe.

I think you're supposed to line the inside with gold or silver or platinum or something.

Looks nice! I'd like to make at least two rings, myself. :)

Duracoat is a very tough gun finish that you could apply. There are lots of colors (works great on knives too) and there is a clear also. Those look great. Are you going to make more to sell?

Line it with sterling silver or gold or just make it out of stainless damascus.

Great looking rings Mike  What types of steel did you use in mix ?

2 rings ? Is there something you'd like to tell your buddies here at BladeForums Phillip ?? ;)

:D

Unfortunately, I can only make one right now, because I don't know yet what size the other one will be. :( :D
But don't worry, when it happens, you guys will be among the first to know.

i guess i'll just have to mess with some stainless damascus next time.... seem like the easiest thing for someone of my skill level.

i had some of delbert ealy's O1 and L6 mix. i think he has some nickel in there too

thanks for the help guys
