It's a handsome knife and I wish Buck well with it. I like my OEM 791 Elite but not enough to spend more for one with a Magnacut, CeraKote blade. If it were just the plain blade, yeah, maybe.

I first saw the pic on the Buck home page, and was interested.... swirling carbon fiber, blade looked like a smokey grey... Looked sweet.

But the product pic is MUCH more pedestrian looking.... Still nice, but not "Wow!"

I have a carbon fiber handled knife from Buck and its appearance definitely changes with the lighting. Sometimes it's incredibly striking. Sometimes it's much more pedestrian, as R rival22 said.

I don't understand Buck's love of CeraKote and their extensive use of it.

Magnacut is very corrosion resistant. Cerakote is purely cosmetic on this one, and negatively so in my opinion.

That is a drool worthy, beautiful, work of art, knife ... But with them making 1,000 of them, I can't justify it as a collectable at $300 and certainly can't justify it as a daily working blade over my Range Pro I already own.

But damn, is it NICE looking ..

I'm still trying to decide if I even like my Range Pro. It needs a micarta handle.

So this is an easy pass. Even at half that price.

I have a couple of Bucks with cerakote on the blade and after some use they look horrible. The cerakote scratches and wears off. I can’t understand why they are using a surface coating on a Magnacut blade as it is extremely rust resistant or any stainless steel for that matter. Idk , I think it is probably for the aesthetics for collectors who don’t use them. Not only that but I can buy two of the range elite for less than this one and I'm not to keen on carbon fiber anyhow ,it feels so plastic like. Im sure it’s a nice knife but I'm a pass on it.

Buck is probably eventually going to sell it out, so it doesn't matter. But I'd like to see them do something without Cerakote. I bet it sells out faster.

Nice looking knife but I am going to pass also. I would have liked this one with an uncoated blade. I feel the same way about the new marksman that was released this week, but I don’t mind it as much on that one.
