Carbon Fiber Knife Help?

Hey, first I'd like to say I'm a novice, I don't really intend on getting into knife collecting or the like, but I absolutely love carbon fiber (I have a carbon fiber wallet, laptop, pen) probably a bit obsessively.

I'm looking for a good carbon fiber knife. Any actual carbon fiber blades seem to suck (which makes sense) so I've given up on that dream, but I would like a true carbon fiber handle (not a pattern or anything).

Just a small pocketknife type blade, 2-3 inches, folding preferably.
Price range around up to $60 but that's pushing it.
edit: now considering lower $100's

I've kind of narrowed it down to 3, but if you know of any others I'd love to look.
Of these 3 (if you don't have another), what one would you get? Or recommend?

list I'm considering:
Spyderco Sage Carbon Fiber Plain Edge Knife

Kershaw Premium Skyline Liner Lock Knife Carbon Fiber

Zero Tolerance 0770CF
http://www.bladehq.com/item--Zero-Tolerance-0770-Knife-Carbon--19927

I'm sorry if this is the wrong subforum. I read the stickies and this seemed the best since there's a prefix for "Recommendation"
I appreciate your help, thanks!

if I had to choose out of those three I would go with the buck, however I have some other options.
benchmade 940-1
spyderco domino
spyderco gayle Bradley

all of the above!
the price isn't right but in the future you might want them.

First thanks for the quick reply and recommendation, but damn those ones look nice haha. My budget hates you now

You will not regret the 940-1.

The Spyderco GB Folder..and the not yet mentioned Air are awesome...had them both. But they are not true carbon fiber, thru' and thru'... they are a laminate over G-10 type material..Not sure that would satisfy a true CF junkie..However, the Air is hot stuff and is closer to your size and budget restraints..

I've looked around and found one more, it's definitely above my budget, but Mr.Svinarich recommended some others and I kept looking around in a higher price range

The ^Sage is a fantastic design, though it does use the carbon fiber/G-10 laminate like Ickythump mentioned; so it's not "true CF" like you requested.

I don't knowif any of those knives are actually real carbon fiber. A lot of times companies use a thin layer of peel ply CF on a stainless or titanium frame. I would read the 2-3 star reviews before buying if I were you.
The first knife I thought of was the Bladehq.com exclusive Kershaw Skyline CF. It's still probably out of your price range at $105, but here's a pic anyway.

So I've edited the OP after I've changed my budget (Christmas money time)

New list I'm choosing from:
Spyderco Sage Carbon Fiber Plain Edge Knife
http://www.bladeops.com/Spyderco-Sage-Carbon-Fiber-Handle-Plain-Edge-p/spyc123cfp.htm

Kershaw Premium Skyline Liner Lock Knife Carbon Fiber
http://www.bladehq.com/item--Kershaw-Premium-Skyline-Knife--23761

Zero Tolerance 0770CF
http://www.bladehq.com/item--Zero-Tolerance-0770-Knife-Carbon--19927

I'm leaning a little towards Kershaw Skyline for the weight of 2.5 oz (compared to 3.2 oz and 3.8 oz)
A very close second is the Spyderco Sage for the looks and weight (3.2 oz)

I would definitely get the skyline. Mind you I dont like the look of them. But they are a great size for edc and have a very useful blade shape. I prefer something with a little more flash, but honestly for the price its a knife that is hard to beat and it very hard to justify a different knife based on looks alone.

Yep, that Kershaw Skyline with the CF and s30v blade is going to be hard to beat at that price. BTW, I don't think any of use set out to be a knife collector.... one day you realize that you just spent $500 on a knife and you say to yourself " damn, I guess I am a knife collector." Welcome aboard! :D

I have a zero tolerance ZT0770CF. Probably a little out of your price point but its a great knife. 3 ounces, real carbon fiber, elmax blade, serial numbered, made in the USA. I love mine. Picked it up new for $147 on ebay. They usually run $180 or so but if you look you can find it $30-$40 cheaper online.

Way above your budget, but I think the ZT0777 is a beautiful example of carbon fiber in a knife...

You read the Sticky'd threads but not the rules. The only links allowed are to those dealers which help support the forums. Amazon is not one of them, not yet anyway. If you must post links, here are the vendors that support Bladeforums:

Another tip, when you write the name of a knife, about 95% of the people here know what you are talking about, so links aren't necessary.

I'm sorry. I updated all the links with vendors instead of Amazon

Alright, I've narrowed it down the the Spyderco vs Kershaw. Final thoughts?
Been taking a look at the two reviews
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOi710Z2S04
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qY_CNrMyIY

They're near identical spec wise
$100, 3" vs 3.125" blade, closed 4-3/16" vs 4-1/4", weight 3.2 oz vs 2.5 oz

+I like the look of the SpyderCo more, along with how you open it, and the pillar back so it's open/easy to clean out
-The SpyderCo doesn't have real Carbon Fiber :(

+The Kershaw has real carbon fiber
-I like how the SpyderCo opens a lot more

I own most of the knives you've considered, and I'd go with the Sage 1. It's great fun for EDC, and something that I enjoy carrying often. My second choice would be the ZT 0770. It's also fun and easy to carry—the weight is amazing, and it's got a great blade. I modded mine and enlarged the choil, both so I could choke up for tight work, and also to make one-handed closure a little more safe. Love it a bunch, almost but not quite as much as my Sage 1. Plus, it's now quite a bit more expensive. I carry both regularly.

I don't own a CF Skyline, but I have carried the G10 version. It's nice, and a great value, especially in the G10 configuration, and I very much like its kinda hybrid Scandi-flat grind, but I've never become that comfortable with its feel, and while I like the blade in theory and design, I don't really care for it that much in practice. It's a little more blade-heavy than I care for.

That's my two cents—let us know what you finally choose.
