Halpern Titanium is the only place I've found that sells it in sizes suitable for knifemaking. They also sell titanium (like, duh!) and other odds and ends for folder-making. Hope this helps!

Try some boat supply stores. They usually have carbon fibre as it is used to repair hulls of boats. Don´t forget to buy epoxy while you are there. Ask them to help you with cutting etc as you´ll need special ceramic scissors. CF will kill any ordinary scissor - fast.
Drop CKG member Rick Frigault an email..Rick uses CF quite a bit and can give you the ins and outs of using it....

actually you should try Carver on the forums here, think his email is gpiszar@aol.com, if memory serves he was selling 6.5 X 1.5 X .150
thick slabs for $5/each USD.
Real nice looking stuff, polishes up beautiful and has a sweet pattern to it
as for precautions, think I've read somewhere it'll seriously damage your lungs if you breathe it in, something to do with the little micro fibers scarring the lung tissue.
Also it'd probably be a good idea to cover up as much as possible and sprinkle baby powder on whatever exposed skin that might get doused with the dust (itches like a b*tch)
Other then that, it's great stuff to work with, and looks killer once you're done
I will add...wear a respirator ALL the time. there is bad stuff floating in the air of any knife shop, and you cant see it!!!!!! of course when you have just finished a particularly fine piece and you want to light up a Fuentes, you have to take your mask off!!
