I searched around, but couldn't find much.

Any of you kydex benders work with CF? Looking for something for my meaner, or RMD.

I think most of the carbon fiber used in sheaths is actually a faux carbon fiber looking stuff. I know David Brown has used some of it in his sheaths. It looks good too.

I've picked a up CF patterned sheaths from David Brown for my son's SAR5.

Looks super with pumpkin scales !

Yeh, I've seen all the faux stuff. I want some nice polished CF though. I wonder if it too hard to work with or something?

I don't believe CF can be heat molded - I think it's more like a fiberglass type product that is wet molded before the resin sets. That would make it a royal PITA for sheathmaking in small batches.

Yep, you are exactly right. I guess that's why you don't see it...

I would love one though.

BUt, what if they wrapped the blade with tape, then wrapped it in wet CF.

I think it could be done.

Look at this:

I've never worked with CF but have done fiberglass, and I think the process is similar enough. If you wanted to DIY it, I'm sure you could but it is a huge pain in the neck to work with. It's a real mess and not easy to make look good.

Same, never worked with CF, but I used to repair boats for a living.

I hate fiberglass.. lol I got to be pretty decent with the stuff though.

Dave Brown got back to me. He doesn't work with CF. He also said it is super abrasive to the finish. I wouldn't really care about that.

:(

Sigh..
